Get ready to quiz on “A Doll’s House” on Tuesday. What a drama it is!

We will also begin your response to literature synthesis essay on “What is Humanity?” You may want to review to review the world creation stories and incorporate at least 3 different cultures.

Also refer to The Purdue University Online Writing Lab for appropriate MLA format and citations.

All 5+ articles for your Annotated Bibliography need to be annotated by Tuesday, 3/31. Only articles found through MackinVia on Cobb Digital Library will be accepted. You may search in Student Resources>Opposing Viewpoint or Science in Context.

Quiz on “A Modest Proposal…” by Jonathan Swift on Thursday, 4/2.

We will practice writing arguments and text-based analysis as well as advanced grammar skills.

Begin brainstorming answers to next essay assignment “What is Humanity?” based on cultural information from group presentations of cultures from around the world and the Iliad.

British Literature

Remember: Annotated Bibliographies are due Friday, April 3.

All 5 printed articles are due Friday 3/27. 3 of 5 should have close reading annotations completed.

Examine Satire with a close reading of “A Modest Proposal” by Jonathan Swift.

World Literature

Cooperative learning groups will present historical facts and creation myths from different cultures around the world beginning Friday, March 20.

Vocabulary Unit 11 quiz will be Tuesday, March 24.

British Literature

We will complete our unit on William Shakespeare’s  Othello. Test Monday, March 16.

We will begin our next parallel readings. Students will research a pre-approved topic of their choice to create an annotated bibliography. We will review MLA works cited page format, learn how to use academic databases, and practice close reading strategies for each article. The completed annotated bibliography is due Friday, April 3.

All Classes: Don’t forget that your Black History Month Extra Credit Assignments are due Friday, 3/6 in my inbox. I will not accept papers/presentations sent to my “cobbk12” inbox; there is not enough space. Be prepared to share!

World Literature

We are continuing our study of World Mythology by reading the Iliad and watching documentaries based on the Trojan War. By the end of this unit, you should be able to answer the question “What is humanity?” with support from the epic.

Seniors: are you more of

  • A construction worker/architect?
  • A fashion designer?
  • A writer?
  • or an Artist/Sculptor?

You can be either of these with your Iliad project. More details to come!

 Friday, we’ll quiz on Vocabulary Unit 11. Don’t forget to do Practice Exercises 1 & 2.

We are wrapping up OthelloWe will test on Acts 1-3 on Friday. We will continue to read Act IV until then.
