This is the last week of Quarter 2. Please be sure that students complete (even expired) USA Testprep.

ELA

Monday

Revise Rough Drafts of informational essays using the rubric. The final draft is due Tuesday. This will be our last test grade for the semester.

See also Writing a Research paper.  Instead of headings, we will include topic sentences.

Tuesday

Finalize informational essay. Final drafts due.

Wednesday

Independent Reading Book Presentations (The list of presentation/project options will be posted Tuesday)

Thursday

On Demand Essay (Half Day)

Friday

Remaining book presentations  (Half Day)

 

Writing Applications

Students will continue presenting Scope Magazine articles. We will review reading and writing standards shared with ELA.

Update – We will not be taking MiniTouchstone Q2.3. We will complete our Informational Essay as a Performance task (test).

Monday:

  • Brainstorm writing an informational text
  • Students will write questions to answer in their original informational essay.

Tuesday:

  • Organize body paragraphs with the answers
  • Select a text structure
  • Focus on central idea and topic sentences
  • Homework due Friday: USA Testprep Weekly Practice 16

Wednesday

  • Write body paragraphs with answers
  • Identify main ideas, author’s purposes, text structures, and vocabulary

Thursday

  • Write introductions and conclusions

Friday

  • Main Idea Practice
  • USA TEST PREP WEEKLY PRACTICE 16 DUE
